As we study the American Revolution, this question comes to mind. What does Freedom mean to you? The American colonists in the 1700's fought for freedom and liberty. Brave soldiers since then have fought for these same ideals. Americans have the Statue of Liberty welcoming people to America. When we say the Pledge of Allegiance, we talk about liberty. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution talk about freedom and liberty. But what does all this mean? What does it mean to YOU?Webster's Dictionary defines freedom as: The condition or state of being free; political independence; possession of political rights; boldness of expression; liberty; unrestricted access or use.
Liberty is defined as: The state of being free from oppression, tyranny, confinement or slavery; freedom.
